Setup Tracking for Kart Racers
Karts have no suspension, which means every setup change is a chassis stiffness, geometry or tyre change: axle hardness, hub length, front and rear track width, caster and camber via pills, seat position and tyre pressure. Changes happen between every session and the conditions move all day. Setup Genius gives kart racers and karting parents a per-session record of all of it, linked to lap times and weather.
| Parameter | Softer / less grip | Harder / more grip | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rear axle | Soft axle | Hard axle | Hard axle frees the rear on high grip |
| Rear hubs | Short hubs | Long hubs | Long hubs add rear grip |
| Rear track width | Narrower | Wider | Wider frees the rear |
| Front track width | Narrower | Wider | Wider adds front bite and jacking |
| Caster | Less | More | More caster lifts the inside rear more |
| Tyre pressure | Lower | Higher | Small changes, 0.5 psi steps |
Why kart setup needs records
A karting weekend can involve a dozen chassis changes as the grip comes up through the day. By the final the setup that worked in morning practice is wrong, and next month the morning conditions are back. A per-session record of chassis, tyres, weather and lap time turns that cycle into a reference.
For parents and junior drivers
Junior karting parents often become the mechanic and engineer overnight. Setup Genius keeps the record straight while the knowledge builds, and Apex explains what each change does in plain language.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a karting template?
Templates are fully customisable, so a karting template with axle, hubs, track widths, pills, seat position, sprocket and pressures is a few minutes' work and can be reused for every kart.
Can I track sprocket and gearing?
Yes. Record front and rear sprocket teeth per session; the gear ratio calculator gives the ratio and speed at your RPM limit.
Does it work for rental or arrive-and-drive karting?
There is less to adjust, but tyre pressures, seat position and lap times per session are still worth tracking.
